Fair Scanner privacy policy Effective 10 October 2026. This policy covers the Fair Scanner app for iPhone and Android, developed by Shikher Verma. Questions: shikherverma42@gmail.com. The short version Fair Scanner itself collects no data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your documents stay on your phone. The only things that go online are store purchases and, on Android, Google's scanner component, which sends Google basic diagnostics (see Network). What stays on your phone The pages you scan or import, the edits you make (crop, rotation, filters), document names, and whether you have unlocked unlimited documents. These are kept in the app's private storage. Deleting a document removes its files; deleting the app removes them all. One small counter, how many documents you have created, is also kept in the phone's secure storage (the Keychain on iPhone, Google Play services Block Store on Android) so that reinstalling the app does not reset the 10 free documents. It stays there when you delete the app, and it never leaves your phone (on Android it can move to a new phone if you transfer your data to it phone-to-phone). A PDF you export is written to the app's temporary storage and handed to the system share sheet. Where it goes from there (mail, messages, files, another app) is your choice. If you back up your phone (iCloud Backup on iPhone, Google backup on Android), the backup may include the app's documents. Those backups are run by Apple or Google under your account and settings, not by Fair Scanner. Camera and photos The camera is used only to scan documents, inside the system scanner. Photo library access is used only to import pictures you choose. Fair Scanner keeps its own copy of each imported picture and does not change or delete your originals. Network Fair Scanner itself makes no network requests. Two parts of the phone's system software can go online on the app's behalf: Purchases. The one-time unlock is bought and restored through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment and tell the app whether you own the unlock. Fair Scanner never sees your payment details. The scanner on Android. The document scanner on Android is Google's ML Kit document scanner, run by Google Play services. The first time you scan, Google Play services may download the scanner module. Google states that ML Kit sends Google diagnostic and usage information: device model and OS version, the app's package name and version, a per-installation identifier, and event and error codes. Scanning itself happens on the phone. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure On iPhone the scanner is Apple's VisionKit, which works on the device. Children Fair Scanner itself collects no data from anyone, including children. Changes If this policy changes, the new version will be published with an app update and the effective date above will change. Contact Shikher Verma, shikherverma42@gmail.com
