How to cancel a scanner app subscription
Cancel through the company that bills you: Apple, Google Play or the scanner app's own provider. Check your receipt or subscription account first, then use that billing route; deleting the app or switching scanners is not a substitute for cancelling. (Apple guidance, Google Play guidance)
1. Find who bills you
Use the receipt, not just the scanner's name or the phone you currently use, to choose your route.
| What you find | What to do |
|---|---|
| Apple receipt | Check the Apple Account on it, then follow the iPhone steps below. |
| Subscription listed in Google Play | Use the Google Account that holds it and follow the Google Play steps below. |
| Another company, or no matching subscription | Check your receipt and bank/card statement privately to identify the biller. Contact that company for its cancellation instructions. |
Apple recommends checking receipts and the statement when you cannot identify a subscription; Google advises checking other Google Accounts when one is missing. (Apple, Google) Never send passwords, card numbers or full receipts to this site.
2. Cancel using the matching route
Apple billing on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Select the scanner subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll.
- Check and privately record any cancellation confirmation or end date shown.
Apple says to cancel a trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want renewal. (Apple's cancellation instructions)
Google Play billing on Android
- Sign in to the Google Account holding the subscription.
- Go to subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select the scanner subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
- Check and privately record any cancellation confirmation or end date shown.
Google says you can continue using the subscription for the time you already paid for. Do not assume that rule describes every vendor's trial or direct-billing plan. (Google Play's cancellation instructions)
Direct billing
Use the actual provider's cancellation instructions or contact it. There is no single verified billing-menu path for every scanner app. Check and privately record any cancellation confirmation or end date your account shows.
3. If the subscription is missing
For Apple, search email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple” and check the Apple Account identified there. If a family member owns the subscription, ask them to cancel it. Without an Apple receipt, check whether another company billed you. (Apple)
For Google Play, try your other Google Accounts. (Google)
Know the brand? See our iScanner cancellation guide or CamScanner cancellation guide. Fair Apps is not affiliated with those providers.
4. Keep documents and billing separate
Google explicitly says uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation also does not promise a refund: Google says refunds may be available in some instances. Request any refund separately from the actual biller. (Google Play)
Before deleting the old app, use its available export/share function to keep documents you need, then open the saved copies to check them. Do not delay urgent cancellation to finish exporting. Check the provider's export terms rather than assuming export will remain available after expiry.
Copy this checklist into Notes or a text document. Fill it privately; use your editor's Print command for a paper copy.
App name on receipt:
Receipt issuer: Apple / Google Play / another company / unknown

Refund needed? Request separately from actual biller.
Documents to keep:

Remove old app only after copies and billing are checked.
Fictional example: Example Scanner's receipt says Google Play, so the route is Google Play subscriptions in the personal Google account. Confirmation is not yet checked; the grocery receipt and roof repair note still need exporting. Keep the app while those checks remain unfinished.
A scanner without recurring billing
Fair Scanner includes all features free for the first 10 documents, then offers a one-time unlock, not a subscription. Deleting documents does not restore the allowance. It has no OCR, cloud sync or folders. Switching does not cancel old billing or automatically migrate documents. (Product details)

FAQ
Will cancelling refund my last charge?
Do not assume so. Google distinguishes cancellation from refund eligibility; ask your actual biller about your charge.
Can Fair Scanner cancel my existing subscription?
No. Cancel with Apple, Google Play or the provider that bills you, independently of installing another scanner.
What if I cannot find a cancel option?
Recheck the owning account and receipt issuer using the steps above, then contact the identified biller rather than deleting the app and assuming billing stopped.
